Public GYM in Póvoa de Lanhoso High School, Portugal


The Sports pavilion (ESPL) is an equipment of the Secondary School of Póvoa de Lanhoso. During school hours, it is used for the practice of physical education, outside of it, by sports associations and the community.
The Portuguese pilot building is located at Misericordia Street, parish of Póvoa do Lanhoso (N. Sra. Do Amparo), in the northern region of Portugal, in the district of Braga, municipality of Póvoa do Lanhoso. This Municipality is part of the NUTS AVE that corresponds to the Intermunicipal Community of Ave (CIM do Ave).

The building opened in May 1996, and, like all buildings from that period, is energetic and hydric inefficient. This results in poor comfort for users and high maintenance costs for the Municipality. The intervention in the building will allow to increase its energy and water efficiency and, in parallel, the comfort levels of both the game area and the locker rooms. It has a total area of 1683 m2 divided:

1) game area: 1263 m2;
2) locker rooms: 220m2;
3) technical areas: 14 m2;
4) administrative areas: 17m2;
5) circulation areas: 171 m2

The sports hall is used by both the educational community and the rest of the community. Being a school equipment, during school hours, it is used for the practice of physical education. Outside of this period, at the end of the day and at the weekend, it is used for the practice of various sports.

Rehabilitate the sports pavilion of the Póvoa de Lanhoso High School (ESPL) in order to be efficient and increase user comfort until the end of the project.

The collaborative platform, developed by CETENMA, allows local interest groups and the general public to view the virtual 3D model of the pilot building, learn about its properties and make suggestions and modifications to it. The objective is that the stakeholders participating in the Territorial Dialogue process became an active part of the building renovation project. Their contributions will help to achieve the desired objective for the future of the building.

Through the BIM model, the structural and energy simulations of the proposed solutions will be carried out by experts. The result are shown in what we call senarios, that can be visualized, in order to facilitate decision-making in the rehabilitation of the building.
